Mercedes-Benz has brought the CLA Shooting Brake back to Australia, with the new-generation wagon on sale now from $70,800 before on-road costs. Two versions are offered, a mild-hybrid CLA200 and the CLA200 electric, which is the brand’s first fully electric Shooting Brake. Both are due in showrooms in January 2027.
The electric model costs $72,990, a $2,190 premium over the petrol version. Compared with the equivalent CLA Coupe, the wagon body adds $2,700 to the mild-hybrid and just $790 to the electric car.
The first-generation CLA Shooting Brake was sold here until 2019, but Mercedes-Benz Australia skipped the second-generation model. Unlike the sedan, the local wagon range doesn’t include any all-wheel-drive versions.

Mild-hybrid and electric specifications
The CLA200 uses a 1.5-litre turbo four-cylinder with a 48V mild-hybrid system, an eight-speed dual-clutch auto and front-wheel drive. It can run on electric power alone at urban speeds when demand is under 20kW, and Mercedes claims 5.4L/100km.
The electric version drives the rear wheels through a two-speed transmission, with first gear for acceleration and second for efficiency at higher speeds. Its 800V architecture supports DC charging at up to 320kW, and the navigation automatically warms the battery ahead of a planned fast-charging stop.

The CLA coupe holds a five-star ANCAP rating from 2025 testing.
